Shekhina
In Judaism, the Hebrew word »Shekhina« is one of the manifold words we use for the divine presence. In particular, as it’s grammatically a female word, we relate it to the female divine presence resting among us down here on earth. According to Kabbalah, woman is royalty. And the power of a woman is to bring down the spiritual into a concrete world. When we sing »Lecha Dodi« on Friday nights in the synagogue, the song to welcome the holy Shabbat, we welcome the »Bride Shabbat« — that is the Shekhina that comes to rest among us during this holy day of rest.
